Certain parts of Hamtramck just look so wrecked. Strangely, that's what many metro Detroiters like about it. Here you'll find all the charming-yet-skuzzy urban decay of the inner city, including some of the best dives Detroit has to offer. Enter The Painted Lady. Resurrected from the former home of Lily's 21, The Painted Lady, with its pink and mint green exterior shell, stands next door to a bombed-out structure of unidentifiable function. Inside, four wobbly square tables sit across the room from a long bar with mismatched stools. A small stage in the corner, set next to a small open and well-loved dance floor, welcomes acts trying to break Detroit's still-thriving local music scene. A sign on the wall offers patrons ''cold beer'' while a large mirror pays homage to Pabst Blue Ribbon, the mark of a truly great dive.
