The Whitney is Detroit's most celebrated restaurant. Housed in a historic 52 room 1890's mansion on Woodward Avenue in the heart of Detroit's cultural district. The Whitney features award-winning cuisine prepared by Chef Michael Lutes, while Master Sommelier Claudia Tyagi brings her extensive knowledge and expertise to create a world class wine list. And remember, there is always room for Pastry Chef Paul Suriano's mouth-watering desserts.

The Whitney Restaurant needs updating after reading all the reviews! I have never been there but I would try to have a good time. Hopefully they have reorganized and updated themselves. I'm sure they have by now. Right?

Incredibly Bad
By bsfrymark on 06/10/2004
We took our daughter on a Sunday at 5pm before a show at the Fox. They didn't have enough menus, so we had to wait about 15 minutes to even begin our selections. The appetizer was ok at best and the Lobster Bisque was no better than a can of Cambells Tomato Soup! Our meals were slow, slow, slow to arrive and we could have gotten the same flavor from our local chain steak house! Our server never came back to find out that it was cold and without much taste. We didn't get out of there until my husband went and found our server and told her we needed to leave. Two hours of sitting in there for a bad meal with bad service has convinced me to never go back and I suggest others to make a better choice on dining than I did!!

I will never eat here again! Horrible service, undercooked and overpriced food. Not to mention the place was filthy. What a shame the such a prominant historical place could be such a let-down
