In the mood for homestyle American cooking just like Grandma used to make? This popular downtown favorite might fit the bill, providing a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere and easy-on-the-wallet prices. Though it's a prime spot for people watching, the dining room also offers a great view of the lake. Diners who like their restaurant meals lively but not rowdy might be put off by other patrons who come to Grandma's to watch major sporting events. If you're in that camp, give the sports pages a gander before you go. The restaurant's popularity within the Duluth area is based on more than just food. Grandma's is also the starting point for and sponsor of Duluth's popular annual Grandma's Marathon. We won't even mention Grandma's winter ice-carving contests. Who knew Grandma had so much energy?

I've never had a bad meal at either Canal Park (usually very busy or at the one near Miller Hill Mall (accross from Target)Service has been great and friendly.Daily specials are terrific with even better prices! I just don't understand the negative reviews??????!! GREAT food at great prices. Portions are so large I always have enough for a meal the next day too; so it's like getting two meals for the price of one!

Very average food, expensive, nice setting, no smoking allowed so why bother going there. Head over to the better restaurants in Superior.

A waste of time and money

I live in northern Minnesota, and am in Duluth often. I find this place to be WAY over rated, and WAY over priced. It is full of snooty people who have no idea what good food, price, and service is. Any bar and grill in Duluth has better fare by far. For those wanting a true "grandmas" type place to go, try Blackwoods. For the biggest "bang for your buck", go up HWY 53 to the Chalet and get not only good food, but a 30oz beer off the tap for $3. And as far as the snooty marathon run goes....it shuts down freeway traffic on a major connecting route for miles, and should be banned from ever happening! P.S.---Thank you Duluth for removing the "Bayfront Blues Fest". It got sickning listening to the same 3 chords all weekend, with the repetative screaming vocals, while stuck in heavy traffic!
