Down the Hatch went ""down the hill"" when they lost "Stan The Man Hissong''. Stan is back at Northgate Bar where it all began. Northgate Bar Located in Mount Morris Twp.in Flint Mi. area, Is Michigans Oldest Single Family Owned Bar in the state of Michigan and 1 of the oldest in the nation. Since 1944 this liquor license owned by the Hissong Family has served generations of patrons for over 65 years. Opened as the Beecher Metropolitan Club/Harmony Hut Changed It's name to Northgate Naming it after there respected subdivision named Northgate Heights. Opened By Stanley Noel Hissong And Wife Leatha Mae Hissong in the 40's, Northgate became one of Flint areas Hi-Spots. In the early 50's the Bar Re-located 2 blocks south to its location now,but in the Moving process the co-owner Stan sr. passed away from a hernia from carrying heavy equiptment from the old location to the new bar. Never seeing his new building open as Northgate. His wife Leatha Mae Hissong opened the New Northgate With the Help of Her Son & Daughter in Law, Stanley Noel Hissong II & Sally Jean (Ingram) Hissong. They have kept one of Michigan longest opened businesses up & running to present date. With help throughout the years from 4 sons, Lyle Joseph Hissong, Noel Bradley Hissong, Guy Raymond Hissong, & Stanley Boyd Hissong. The Bar Has Become a true family bar with a ''Cheers Type atmosphere''. Born in 1930, Stanley Noel & wife Sally have been married since 1949, & have been greeting Northgate customers ever since. If you've never been there, stop in just to see a part of Flint Area history ,along with a Huge Oil Painting by Ken Dolan, of a semi-nude mermaid portrait that is most remembered in the Flint area. A place to go where you will be welcomed, remembered, and treated as family. Stanley Boyd Hissong a long time Singer Entertainer is there on the weekends doing Karaoke again so stop in and become a part of the Hissong Family And part of Michigan History!

Though having all types of karaoke tracks, Explorer Extreme Karaoke plays mostly upbeat dance,rap, & rock. With it's concert type atmosphere and it's dance floor it packs in. Your host Stan Hissong Formerly from Northgate Bar, has been entertaining patrons at Down the Hatch ''North'' for 6 years. He is the most versitle karaoke host you will ever hear. Changing his voice and song selection from maybe Michael Jackson, Nelly, Elton John, or Eminem to Scorpions, Dokken, Poison, or his most requested group Motley Crue . Stan does about 80% request from the crowd all night. If you like to go out to karaoke & have fun, come out, or just stop in for some great entertainment. Thursday, Friday & Saturday 9:30pm.-2:00am. No dress code, only no shoes, no shirt, no I.D., no service.
