Discover four wild worlds in the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo: the African Veldt, Indonesian Rain Forest, four-acre Australian Adventure and Indiana Family Farm area and petting zoo. Take a mini-safari through 22 acres of African grassland to see free-roaming giraffes, ostrich, wildebeests and warthogs. The Indonesian Rain Forest houses tigers and rain forest butterflies, plus a rare Komodo dragon lizard. Tasmanian devils, kangaroos, parakeets and dingoes can be found in the re-created Australian outback. The 20,000-gallon aquarium containing tropical fish of the Great Barrier Reef is a sight not to be missed. Visitors can also view fruit bats and other night creatures in Australia After Dark. The modes of transportation through the zoo include an 1860 train, safari jeep, dugout canoe and traditional pony. The zoo is also host to a multitude of educational programs and materials for teachers, group leaders and other educators.

The Fort Wayne childrens Zoo is an excellent zoo. The workers at the zoo do a great job. The facilities are well kept and very clean. The animals are all kept up with real well. The great thing about this zoo is that it is kept up with donations from the people, no taxpayers dollars are used to keep the zoo running. This is how we should fund our zoos in this country. When a zoo is funded by donations, they are better kept and much more visited by the people. We should honor the Fort Wayne Childrens Zoo whenever we get a chance too. Thank you to everybody affiliated with this great zoo. I used to live in Fort Wayne, but not now. I enjoyed visiting the zoo there. Stephen Wages Jr.
