Who doesn't like a good ale house?
Poor Service
The service I received was bad.
All you need in a sports bar
If youre looking for a place to watch the game, hang out with friends or family, and get a good meal for a decent price, the Gainesville Alehouse may be just the place for you.
Gainesville Alehouse is an economical bar and grill located in the busy Butler Plaza on Archer Road in Gainesville.
The atmosphere at the Alehouse is akin to that of any sports bar, sans the dim lighting and boisterous sots. There are 40 televisions located throughout the restaurant so that every seat has a good view of the sporting event du jour.
The Alehouse also offers a patio that features live music and a back area for pool and darts.
The pool tables are surprising well lit, and the area is not too smoky, which is rarity in a bars billiards area. The wait for one of the two pool tables is usually pretty long, though, and there is plenty else to occupy your attention.
Dinner started with an appetizer, and I ordered the chicken nachos, without knowing what I was getting into. The waiter brought out a mountain of nacho chips smothered in jack cheese and grilled chicken.
The pile was so high that salsa, peppers and sour cream had to come on their own plate. For $7.95 the nachos are one of the best deals in town and can easily feed four to five health adults.
The main course had to be one of Alehouses specialties: the Big Red. This fried chicken breast is smothered in hot Buffalo sauce and cheese and served on a hamburger bun with a side of fries for $6.95.
The sandwich continues the theme of colossal portions, with the chicken hanging well over the confines of the bun. The chicken is grilled nicely and the sauce is hot enough to give a kick, but not so spicy that it kills the flavor.
The Alehouse offers a variety of Pepsi-brand sodas and stocks a full bar. Drink specials change nightly but one can usually find a deal on domestic longnecks or pitchers.
