Listed in the National Register of Historic Places, the elegantly upscale Gibsons Restaurant and its cozy, French bistro-style pub, The Grapevine, are housed in a century-old Italianate mansion. First opened in 1982, Gibsons has since become one of the most reputable fine dining experiences available anywhere, period. Executive Chef James Powell (American Culinary Federation 2001 Chef of the Year) has a flair for pairing fine wine (sample a glass before dinner or purchase a case in Gibsons private bar downstairs) with regional French cuisine emphasizing indigenous American ingredients. From portobella gnocci and Gaelic short ribs to pan-roasted sea bass and cider-brined pork chop, dishes are artfully presented by attentive servers. A variety of sandwiches, soups, salads and appetizers -- try the traditional duck pate -- round out the menu.
