Not many restaurants can say they've been around since the '50s. Heck, half of Granby Street has problems saying they've been around since 2000. So it's a little bit refreshing to find a joint that prides itself on its longevity instead of its culinary creativity. Azalea Inn, located off East Little Creek, has been resting inside the Roosevelt Gardens Shopping Center since 1959 and is proud to let you know. (It's on the menu.) I can honestly claim that this restaurant offers some of the best Greek food in Hampton Roads. (Tied with Orapax, of course. But that's got the Ghent monopoly.) Why the bombastic boasting? It's quality. The cheesy Spanakopita (can anyone go wrong with feta?) and various meat-based Kabobs practically force the Oopa out of your mouth. If you're not a huge Greek fan (Come on -- it's feta!), there's an array of Italian dishes to choose from. -- ME James
