This glitzy megalith between Scope and Waterside off City Hall Avenue introduced a new level of sophistication to the Hampton Roads shopping scene. Anchored by Norfolk's only Nordstrom's, the center also hosts humbler stores like Bebe, Benetton, Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware. Also exclusive to the mall is upscale perfume and cosmetics chain Sephora, a French company that made its American debut in New York. Dining options transcend the usual mall fare, with casual spots like Johnny Rockets vying against upscale eateries like The Cheesecake Factory. Caffeine connoisseurs will be impressed with the variety of coffee shops, from Nordstrom Espresso Bar to Mocha Jack's to that bastion of affluent urbanity, Starbucks. Anchors: Nordstrom 's, Dillard's Notable stores: Aldo Shoes, April Cornell, Aveda, Brookstone, Coach, L'Occitane, Mikasa, Steve Madden, Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn, Sephora, Restoration Hardware Mall amenities: Two parking decks, nine elevators and 94 push-for-assistance boxes that ring directly into the center's security office for help with lost cars, locked-in keys and other car and safety concerns; a 3,000-square-foot picnic-themed indoor play area allowing kids to literally play on their food; private family restrooms with child-sized toilets and sinks; Ticketmaster and information about area hotels, attractions and events; customer-service center with free wheelchairs and strollers, fax and copy services, stamps, directories, gift certificates and lottery tickets; 21 eateries and 18 movie theaters

Parking
By billpegh on 07/13/2007
Although my husband and I enjoy this fine mall, we do find it annoying that we have to paid exorbitant fees for parking. Yesterday we arrived to take in an early movie, had lunch and then did a bit of shopping. We were charged $4.50 for parking, despite having had our ticket punched at the movie theater. While people are encouraged to do all of the above, I think many find this unreasonable. Browsing produces sales but this would certainly discourage me from taking the time to do so. Many young folks and those of us that are retired, should not have to spend this kind of money to park and take the time to enjoy the mall. Thank you, Peggy Hayman billpegh@aol.com

I love the play area for my little one, but what's up with all the big kids running around? I wish someone would enforce the hight rule.
