Monastery Restaurant   

This is one of the best restaurants in Hampton Roads. There is scarcely a better meal in town than the goulaschsuppe and the duck. Throw in the excellent bread and cheese and you will leave stuffed. Anybody who thinks the portions are small has spent way too much time in AYCE joints. This place has been one of my faves for years.

Been there multiple times. I also do not agree that the portions are small. I have left stuffed each time I have gone. I am a big guy too. I recommend the smoking area even for non smokers. It's a quarantined cove for 2 tables, sectioned away from the others. Ideal if the other table is not occupied.

My husband & I love the place. The food is excellent and the service is top notch. We liked the apples, cheese & bread as appetizers. Portions are sufficient! The apple strudel was wonderful. We have older children who have also enjoyed the dining experience, including one who is a Vegetarian. Definitely not like his dad!
