On a recent visit to Connecticut my wife and I discovered a wonderful little restaurant we only wish were closer to our home in Maryland. It's called The Corner Pug and from the moment you enter you are treated to the perfect dining experience. Our first encounter with The Corner Pug was the result of our car acting up while traveling toward Hartford on I-84. The exit we took off the highway in search of a gas station fortunately led us directly to the Pug's front door. While our car was being repaired my wife and I settled in for a relaxing lunch. I choose the Porky Pug Pork sandwich and my wife ordered The Pub Salad. The sandwich was outstanding, served on a french roll with red peppers and onions, a perfect combination to compliment the herb crusted loin of pork. My wife reported her Pub Salad was equally tasty, and judging from the fresh greens, tomato, and red onions, I would have to agree. We also both agreed the beef, beer & sausage chili soup was the best we had ever had. The decor was tastefully appointed with just the right mix of mahogany woods and ox-blood leather seating. The stained glass window treatments and use of brick put the finishing touches on a magnificent English Pub experience. We were so impressed with our lunch that our decision to have dinner at The Corner Pug was a given. Once again we had nothing but the highest marks. The food was wonderful, the staff courteous and efficient, and more than reasonably priced. The only thing that could have added to our experience would have been our car taking another day to repair.  More Reviews

I have visited the restaurant and the bar on separate occasions. The waitresses I found acted as though we were interrupting a "bitch session" but the food itself is ok... The bartenders give an excessive amount of alcohol in their mixed drinks and do "extra" for some patrons more then others...especially if the patron is attractive or a regular. Marty, the senior bartender is a sexual harassment claim waiting to happen. I was victim to some of his verbal rape. Also, I was witness to distribution of a narcotic at the bar to a variety of patrons as well as several of the employees. I survey many different dinning facilities for a living and I would never visit or recommend this establishment to friends or family... However, the First and Last Tavern in Avon is Excellent. This one I highly recommend...You will see the difference in ownerships of each establishment by the professionalism of the staff alone.  More Reviews

The Fed is what you make it. Yes, it is relatively small; yes, there are only single bathrooms in the back; yes, townies like to hang out there; yes, it does have its bad nights. But, as I previously mentioned, the Fed is what you make it. If you're looking for a hot dance club and a lot of "action," you're not going to find it there. What you'll find at the Fed, for the most part, are "normal" people just out to have some drinks and out to have a good time. I've been going to the Fed for a few years now and find it to be one of my favorite places to hang out. I've never really noticed any "tough guys" walking around all the time, as a couple of people previously mentioned. The beer selection is good, the music selection is good, the staff is cool, and it kicks butt on New Year's Eve! Don't knock the Fed until you've tried it more than once, and with the right frame of mind.  More Reviews
