If you're looking to spend your day ogling vast tanks of rainbow-colored creatures from the other site of the safety glass, you've come to the wrong place. While Sea Life Park sports an impressive tank at its entryway and several exhibits throughout the property, the main draw of the park is the interactive activities. In other words, you gotta get wet. Climb into Stingray Lagoon and snorkel about with the angelic creatures. Toss a fish to a sea lion and try not to wince at its breath when he kisses you. Don a helmet and take a stroll at the bottom of the 300,000-gallon Hawaiian Reef Tank. But the most popular activity of all tends to be the dolphin encounters, in which visitors paddle about and play with the gentle cetaceans. While adventure-seekers splash about, landlubbers can while away the time checking out the penguins, bird sanctuary or touch pool, where sea turtle hatchlings are often available for viewing. (Sea Life Park's breeding program has produced more than 2,200 babies of the endangered Hawaiian green sea turtle, with many being released back into local populations.) For the full-day adventure, stick around for the nighttime luau, complete with dolphin show, all-you-can-eat buffet and fire dancers. Note that most activities require booking ahead of time, so call ahead to verify times and availability. All activities are in addition to the entrance fee.
