When Aunt Edith comes to town to visit, don't bring her here; Cecil's is a place just for you and your closest friends. No impressions are made at this bar. This is where you come to be yourself, wearing whatever you want. A certified dive bar, but in the opinion of many, the coolest place in Houston.

I live close to Cecil's and have been there once. It was a pretty amusing drink. I just went in to have an Irish Coffee on a cold rainy day and the place is just what I expected. You had your typical drunk at the end of the bar, girl playing the video game at the bar, and the usual Houston bartender type. I heard a noise in the ceiling by the pool tables and thru the ceiling falls a Possum. The manager and bartender then tried to chase the Possum out of the side door to no avail. The Possum decided he or she would run behind the bar instead and that is where this animal stayed until I payed for my drink and left. I guess the Possum and I are both attracted to cold, dark places now and then. I am a native of Houston and the wild animal behind the bar was a first unless you called the typical 20 something with piercings and tattoo's wildlife. Enjoy your drink!!
