Rate and Write a Review With all the places in Houston to go for Tex-Mex, the menus can all start to look the same. Those in search of a new breed of Mexican cuisine should try Hugo's. Owners Tracy Vaught and Hugo Ortega (also of Backstreet Cafe) call their creations ''authentic Mexican,'' but that's just being modest. What they are serving is quite gourmet. In the appetizer section that they call 'Entremeses,' try the Sopesitos, which are three masa pancakes, topped with pork in salsa Mexicana, duck in mole poblano, and chicken in salsa verde. For your main course, tempt your taste buds with the Tikin Xik, which is grouper seasoned with Achiote and grilled in a banana leaf. They have tacos and quesadillas, as well, both done deliciously different. -- Sarah Nichols
