Brought to you by the former New York family that established Austin's all-hours deli, Katz's Deli on lower Montrose is the answer to your late- night eating needs and your don't-want-to-cook blues, because, like the advertisements say, ''Katz's never kloses.'' The two-story restaurant is decked out in a slick New York subway theme. Patrons of all kinds can be found enjoying Katz's cuisine: cops from the nearby HPD substation seeking carbs and caffeine; families with kids in tow; dance-club divas who need refueling and rehydration; and party animals looking for a day-after bagel. The menu is completely kosher, offering Reubens, hot dogs, chopped chicken liver sandwiches, matzo-ball soup, blintzes, bagels and even beef bacon and turkey ham.

Health Code Violations
By superlluclkycat on 05/03/2006
On 07/22/05, ABC13 Eyewitness News and good ole Marvin Zindler inspected Katz's. Inspector Bock (from City of Houston Health and Human Services, I think) ordered them to throw out 92(!!) pounds of potentially hazardous food because it was not kept at the correct temperature. I started checking around after I got ill after a late night meal there.

We ate here today and had the Kosher Klub and rb on rye. No chips. And two teas...all for 25 bucks!
