The Proletariat's a casual, low-key neighborhood bar, close enough to other Montrose area hotspots but also off the beaten track. There's plenty of live music acts, from The Kants and Handdriver to Woozyhelmet, Frox Noxon to Versus. Some nights the music starts as early as 6:30PM, but 10PM is more often the norm. Actually, it's more like 10ish -- things are pretty relaxed at this joint. DJs and a well-stocked jukebox take over whenever there's no live show. Monday is Industry Night, with $2 wells, $3 calls and live music. Thursday is Ladies Night, with no cover and $2 "well-tinis." Drink specials vary daily, so check with the bartender for the latest info -- or opt for the super low-priced beer on tap. The dress code is uber-casual, and while there's no food service, the staff says it's all right to bring in your own burgers or pizza. -- Olivia Flores Alvarez

Why should we vote in these categories when there are places listed that have not been open for a long time.

the Pro was an awesome bar. unfortunately, it's been closed now for a few months. the void is felt around town. no other bar can copy the atmosphere that was the Proletariat.
