Shoeshine Charlie's Big Top Lounge   

The owners of the legendary Continental Club founded this little bar a few doors down, naming it for the guy who shined shoes at the original Austin location. When interior renovations revealed circus murals painted on the walls, the club took on a slightly longer moniker. With all that quirky charm, Big Top quickly emerged from the shadow of its bigger, louder sibling to become a favorite local hangout. These days, the old shoeshine booth and faded murals provide the backdrop for diverse musical acts, from rockabilly to acoustic folk. Bartenders keep busy serving up beer (sometimes cold, sometimes not) and premium drinks. Ride over on the light rail after work for happy hour Wednesday through Friday.
