For generations, Houston's single community has flocked to the amazingly hip, tree-lined area surrounding the intersection of Westhiemer Road and Monstrose Boulevard, and Slider's Bar & Daiquiris sits at the apex of this mecca. As a single-story building, Slider's fits in well with the 'hood which is characterized by low-slung Craftsman bungalows that alternately serve as residences, tattoo parlors, antiques stores and vintage clothing shops. Slider's interior is playful with pinball machines, pool tables, a DJ and other games. Slider's is generally inexpensive, plan on a couple of bucks for a draft of beer, and offers some type of drink special like $1 Jello Shots or Happy Hour every night. The daiquiri menu includes titles like the Blazing Banana, Slippery Climax and the Force Field. Despite its location at the core of Houston's nightlife, however, Slider's is generally unpretentious and exudes a low pressure, comfy atmosphere that makes it something more than a mere meat market.
