The line of T-shirt-clad twentysomethings waiting for a hand stamp can stretch across the parking lot and down the sidewalk on nights when big names are playing. Even on nights when lesser-known local bands take the stage, Walter's still manages to pack 'em in. The club attracts the edgiest of musicians and music fans, but it strives to be simply a friendly neighborhood watering hole seven days a week. In fact, the bartenders are usually more than happy to chat with customers while they open their beer or pour their drinks. Parking on the narrow streets in the surrounding neighborhood can be challenging; carpool if you can.

Not for large shows
By cintgreat on 03/27/2006
Walter’s has no business hosting shows that are drawing large crowds. The seating area (and even the standing area) is VERY limited and the ventilation is extremely poor. We arrived early for a performance on a Saturday night; the admission fee was over priced and not only did we not have a place to sit but we couldn’t breathe. Also, the local bubba/WT crowed seems be given preference at Walters. Walter’s was packed the night of our show and the crowd was loud and trying to have a good time, however we were hushed by the local WT “librarian” who was watching her untalented brother/husband perform. I suppose this establishment would be suitable for a very small show or as the local “hole in the wall” bar, but my friends and I were very disappointed with our experience at Walter’s, which is clearly not capable of catering to large crowds. Also, the parking is very limited and the area streets are unsafe to park at. Several vehicles were vandalized the night we went to Walter’s and the management could care less.
