When a mere bottle of beer just won't do, head over to Alice's place for a schooner of Shiner. For less than two bucks, you get 16 ice cold ounces served by the surliest of bartenders, usually Alice herself. This hole-in-the-wall watering hole specializes in cheap Texas beer, but Alice will also sell you a glass of wine or a set-up for your whiskey. If you can manage to elbow your way past the painfully cool college kids and painfully drunk truck drivers to drop a few quarters in the jukebox, you'll have the pleasure of listening to your favorite country crooner or pop icon as you watch the game on TV or play a round of pool. Better yet, just find a seat next to one of the old-timers and strike up a conversation.
