You walk into Baker's Ribs and you can tell you've come to the right place just by the sweet smoky smell that baths you the second you open the door. With an emphasis on pork and pork ribs, Baker's Ribs also makes falling-apart brisket and a full component of hearty sides, from dill potato salad to marinated tomatoes and a creamy yet colorful coleslaw. Pour on the excellent sauce and get a praline for dessert made with Kentucky Bourbon. With its red picnic benches, stained concrete floor and Houston Livestock Show plaque for the 1996 grand champion steer (purchase price $350,000), the ambiance is country without being cute or contrived. -- Ann Walton Sieber

Underrated
This has got to be the most underrated restaurant in Houston. They do several things better than anyone else. Better cuts of meat, better smoke flavor and more tender. While their sauce is good you donât needed like you do at some of the others, and yes Iâve been to Ottos, Goode Company, Luling City, Hickory Hollow, Luthers, Old Hickory Inn, Gabbyâs and Barbecue Inn.
Good sauce, Pork Ribs fair
Had inconsistant Pork quality, first visit was good and the second and last was not so good. The Pork ribs tasted like they were freezer burned before cooking.
The Best
The brisket is consistantly lean, tender and has a smokey flavor. Check out the wood pile out back. It is not dried out or fatty, which is is the case with some other popular BBQ places. I've tried them all and this is top notch. The ribs are excellent and the links are good too. There is a decent selection of vegatables. The atomosphere inside is OK, you can find better, but they also have a porch outside. An added plus, you can get your car washed next door while you eat.
