The Brennan family has been setting the standard for elegant dining for more than 30 years. Set in an old brick mansion, Brennan's features Louisiana classics with a Texas twist, such as chili-fried oysters. Insiders order the turtle soup for starters and then have the Louisiana pecan crusted fish or the Gulf of Mexico crabcakes. At lunch, take your choice of smoked chicken and spinach salad or the pan-roasted chicken breast. The New Orleans Jazz Brunch offers great food paired with great music, crabmeat and asparagus omelets and eggs Brennan accompanied by a live jazz band on the patio. Top off any Brennan's visit with a special off-the-menu treat, the "Spoons." Sinfully decadent and rich, the Spoons is a sampler of five desserts surrounding a flambe. And if you can't get enough of your favorite Brennan's dishes, pick up a copy of the 'Brennan's of Houston in Your Kitchen' cookbook, with in-house secrets by Head chef Carl Walker. Remember, some dishes require advance notice and reservations are always strongly suggested. -- Olivia Flores Alvarez

Best Brunch?

I doubt it. It is good, I'll give it that, but Quattro sets the benchmark in Houston for brunch ... no question!

My entire family prefers Brennan's - it is awesome, great - and is always the choice for my daughter's birthday celebration. The surroundings and atmosphere are quiet and elegant and the service is impeccable - and the little extras - muffins, cheeze biscuits. The price is comparable to other "classy" restaurants considering all the food that is served. And their Apple Martinis are the best.

Post Wedding Rehearsal Brunch
By dipmaster9 on 09/18/2005
Over Labor Day, my family was attending a wedding for my son and future daughter in law. I was responsible for site selection for the Brunch. Being from the NE part of the US, I know NOTHING about Houston Restaurants. After four (4) hours on the internet, I called for reservations. I was treated politely, by a thoroughly well informed associate. They called me several more times to suggest better ways to make our affair a success. They upgraded our room at their option. Brunch was beyond our wildest expectations. The food was 6 stars on a 5 star scale. The Waitperson was the most extraordinary person I have had the pleasure of dining with. He was totally informed about any and every item regarding the preparation of various dishes. We found that Brennon's was the inventor of Bananas Foster. Of course, we had ample portions of that for dessert. This is a 6 star restaurant for sure. I am going to visit them EVERY time I visit Houston. This dining experience is one that will never be forgotten
