Downtown rock venue the Engine Room hosts sold-out shows for some of the hottest nationally touring acts, while showcasing the best and most diverse of Houston's local bands as well. The 5,000-square-foot space accommodates more than 500 people and offers one of the best stages in town on which to see a band perform. Paired with the club's high quality sound system, the cavernous main room allows for great acoustics and sound dispersal. True to its name, the Engine Room has an industrial, working man's appeal. Good music and affordable drinks, not frills, have fueled the club's popularity. A fully stocked bar flanks one side of the club, with a wide dance area in the center and tables and chairs along the other side. A separate room in the rear offers pool tables, video games and booth seating.
