When customers have been regulars for more than 50 years, who can argue when they say this is the best Mexican restaurant in Houston? There's even a rumor that favorite tables have been left to family members in their wills! The comfort food of old Mexico highlights this low-key cocina, where the chile con queso is an addiction for locals and celebrities alike. Marge's entomatadas come with fresh tomato sauce rather than the usual chili gravy, and the margaritas are as frothy as the waves along Mexico's coast. The charm of Felix's lies in its loyalty to traditional recipes, like the chiles rellenos stuffed with spicy beef, pecans and plump raisins. Try the chicken mole, with its distinct chocolate flavor. Tacos, tamales and onion-covered fajitas come with the standard pico de gallo, sour cream and guacamole, served with black or refried beans, tender rice and homemade tortillas. -- Lyn Foster

The fact that this restaurant is on this list just goes to show how outdated and unreliable this survey is. Felix's is gone... has been gone for quite a while. This ratings list needs some help!

Best ever

Our family ate there for five generations. It is a loss to Houston and very sad. Shame on those who criticize and compare it to Taco Bell. Hope they enjoy Taco Bell.

Makes you wonder

If this site is still advising to go to resturant that has been closed for months you have to question their other picks as well. Also their is a reason this placed closed. If you had eaten there in the last year and said it was great Tex Mex you need to change your diet to Taco Bell, which is and was better than this place. It may have been grand in the "old days" but those days are long gone.
