The fact that this favorite Houston seafood house is crammed with actual antique boats and a 14- foot propeller is just part of its charm. The fact that it's another quality establishment from the mind of local barbecue hero Jim Goode is the reason this place packs them in with folks looking for a Goode reason to go out to dinner. Jim's son Levi has taken the reins here, adding an oyster bar and a piano bar on weekends and during brunch. He's also made his own mark with a few highfalutin dishes -- such as Chilean sea bass, which strays from the joint's Gulf Coast roots -- but the tried-and-true favorites remain. You can be sure that everything prepared by these folks is made with pride and perfection. Purists start with the Campechana de Mariscos, often voted Houston's best ceviche, with choices of shrimp, crab and crawfish -- when in season. Other winners include the thick and hearty crawfish bisque and several savory seafood gumbos. Those on a budget could go for a fried catfish, oyster or shrimp po-boy, dressed with garlic butter and mayo, but they would be better off saving up to spring for a full meal. In that case, choose the tasty mesquite-grilled dinners. All entres are presented on a plate piled with other extras, most notably a cute little empanada, a spicy dough packet of seafood, which joins red beans and rice, fries or vegetables. You'd be remiss to fill up so much on mere entres and not save room for the world-famous (seriously) pecan pie.

Quality is always good portions are small but enough. Service is usually good, but when the kitchen is slow, management is slow to acknowledge it. It is our regular stop prior to church on Wednesday night.

Great food, fair pricing, "white table cloth" service and decor yet relaxed enough for all family. Mexican seafood cocktail a must have!!
