The biggest new club in town is almost out of town, way out I-10 West at Barker Cypress. At 25,000 square feet and the coolest name in town, HUSH is asserting with some techno-dazzling muscle that club-land extends beyond downtown and Montrose. The 1,700-square-foot sunken dance floor alone is twice as big as most of the fancy loft-clubs downtown, replete with a gyrating lightshow and a vast video wall and even vaster video ceiling. The club also features four bars, private party rooms, skyboxes, and fancy VIP perks. Calling itself ''Houston's only super-club,'' HUSH is going for the international scene, with nods to clubs from Miami Beach to Melbourne, Sao Paulo to Shanghai, Cape Town to Calcutta, with a little Las Vegas (which we all know is a foreign country) thrown in. HUSH features a full calendar of live entertainment, plus a celebrity stable of local DJs and regular visits from such guest DJs as ''gleefully subversive'' Liquid Todd from NYC, East London's jungle underground artist Shy FX and international Trance DJ Kimball Collins. -- Ann Walton Sieber

An Unlikely Place for Hip/Hop
By ConocoVCulpepper on 06/27/2008
I was more than pleasantly surprised how professional the former dealership location looked. The ambiance, sound quality, and staff look and perform great. I have been to Miami, specifically South Beach and would dare to say Hush is probably the closest I have seen to Miami club scene in style and ambiance (with the exception of the gay club, South Beach in Montrose). This is probably one of the best clubs (especially for Hip/Hop) in H-town. The crowd is primarily young as expected for the genre of music, but everyone is on the dance floor and sweating it out there as the music is continuous and consistent... There are hired dancers to get the club bumping...just like the clubs in Miami and there are theme nights on occassion to make it even more interesting (pajama party). If you can plan the safe drive to and from the club, it is worth going out west for... Beats the hip/hop scene in downtown by far.

this is my new favorite club in h-town. this club has a great mix of music and people. you can tell that a lot of thought went into this club. it's not some over priced high roller club,it's got a real professional feel to it.plus when i go there i feel like a star, i feel like i payed $100 to get in when i only paid $10. that's how a club should make you feel!!!
