If you've had enough of the rarified and snippy yuppie ambiance of the Village, you can always retreat to the seedy unpretentious dark of Kay's Lounge. Nestled nearby in an utterly undistinguished squat building (they've even painted the art glass black to make sure no pushy sunrays try and disturb the patrons), Kay's Lounge has been keeping this university enclave humble since 1939. Sometimes you just gotta have that beer, foosball, and dive atmosphere. With everyone from Rice students to celebrity anchormen, Kay's reputedly sports a ten-to-one guy-to-girl ratio (chomp on that equation, all you Rice beautiful minds), with such guy enticements as NFL big screenings, 16 beers on tap, cheap pitchers, pizza and enough pseudo-deco beer advertisements to paper and furnish a Richmond apartment complex full of bachelors.
