Rate and Write a Review La Tapatia draws an eclectic clientele that'll make it easy to keep your eyes open even at 4:00 in the morning. The reason for the non-stop parade of customers? The food is reliably good and cheap. Best bets are the tortas (sandwiches on thick rolls brushed with butter), the quesadillas and the soft tacos, all of which come with your choice of meat fillings. Our favorites are the well-seasoned nuggets of fajita, pork or shrimps. Mix and match your own combinations. You can feast for barely more than $5. Most everything is a tad greasy, but all the more comforting for it.

Best Strawberry Margaritas in Houston!!!
They have the best strawberry margaritas in Houston, food is good and I fell in love with a beautiful blond in this tauqeria.
best in town
I love mexican food & have tried just about every plve in houston & haven't found a better place. The margaritas are extremely good & the quality of food is just as good. I have gone to just about every mexican place in town & the quality is lacking by far, unless you feel like paying an arm & a leg, which is not what i want to do when getting authenic mexican food.
great food mostly friendly
I have been going to La Tapatia for almost a year now something two or three times a week. While most foods have been consistently excellent in quality, I have noticed that the ground beef in dishes has become more and more bland without the benefit of seasoning or sauces. I used to love their ground beef enchiladas but the blandness of the meat makes it unappetizing. The chicken and beef fajitas however are as tasty as ever. La Tapatia has excellent margaritas from the 1.95 happy hours to the 7.95 Patron Silver and Cointreau liquid amnesia ones. Was dissappointed yesterday (10/12/05) with the house happy hour frozen margarita. It was way too tart and got a slight headache. I am hoping that they aren't doing like Fandangos did before they went out of business going to a cheaper tequila - tequilla cost may go down but then so does revenue because if you go cheap, no one will come equalling no sales. All in all, though, the food (except ground beef) is excellent with an extensive menu and mostly lively and friendly staff.
