Rate and Write a Review Jorge Sneider's Mexican Hacienda gives new meaning to the phrase "a room with a view." Three of the main dining room's walls are actually huge floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the lush foliage of Buffalo Bayou. The exterior archway comes from Coyoacan, the entry foyer from an old church in Puebla, and the stone floor from an estate in San Angel. Las Alamedas has remained true to the past by presenting an extensive menu of authentic gourmet Mexican favorites like ceviche Costeno, fish, shrimp and crab marinated in lime, onions, mushrooms, avocado and spices. From there, move on to the Huachinango Pontchartrain, a fresh red snapper filet sauted in a light brown butter sauce, topped with lump crab meat, shrimp and mushrooms. Pollo Acapulco is a tender chicken breast stuffed with shrimp and poblano peppers, rolled, baked and topped with a creamy lobster sauce. There's more than just flan for dessert; try the crepas de cajeta (crpes of milk caramel sauce served with pecans).
