Patrons rave about this classic in the Galleria area. Huge portions of homemade pastas are created using authentic Italian recipes that you'll swear are "just like Mama used to make." There's plenty for sharing, you'll probably take half of it home with you. Fresh, crisp salads are meals themselves, but have one with a house specialty like lasagna with meat sauce, or spinach and chicken manicotti. The shrimp oreganta and linguine with clam sauce are also popular. Prime steaks are on the extensive menu, the seafood is always fresh (the lemon-herb swordfish is a great choice) and the desserts are excellent with a rich coffee at the end of your meal... if you have room. -- Lyn Foster

Leave happy...and full!
By patrckball on 03/18/2007
I have eaten here many times, including a company gathering. The plentiful food is always flavorful and tasty and pleasantly served by friendly, caring waiters. The venue is very comfortable, even if it is crowded and noisy. (It is a popular place!) I am always amused by my waiter's willingness to package huge amounts of leftover food to take home. I sometimes wonder if it is all from my table? Houston has many good Italian venues and, I think, Buca de Beppo should be on this list. Also great!

Good restaurant
By monimg83 on 11/17/2004
I loved the food and they do sever you huge portions. I had the chicken alfredo and a salad. The salad was not too good but the alfredo was excellent! The restaurant is nice romantic setting but it is extremely loud in there. They had a band or singer (can’t remember) and the people that were around the bar were very loud. It was a nice restaurant and I recommend that you try it but if you want to make it a romantic night make sure you go on a slow night and there is no live music.

Like Mama's?
By sspatters1 on 08/20/2004
While I'll certainly agree that Maggiano's serves huge portions, I can't agree that the food's just like Mama used to make...unless your Mama wasn't terribly good at cooking Italian food. The food at Maggiano's is ok, but there are plenty of Italian places in town that do a much better job.
