You'll have to wait until dinner to enjoy the thick, juicy steaks at this Houston institution -- there's no lunch service. The Steakhouse is easy to find, just look for the sudden burst of greenery among Westheimer Road's concrete landscape. The lush garden that marks its entry is just a hint of the luxury and first class treatment you'll get inside. Part of the Pappas restaurant dynasty, the Steakhouse is by far their most elegant -- and expensive -- setting. Start dinner with some Turtle gumbo or Beluga caviar, then take your pick of dry-aged prime beef, live Maine lobster or select Gulf Coast seafood. Ask the steward to help you select from the Steakhouse's cache of 1,500 wines and be sure to leave room for dessert. There's a different selection of luscious delicacies every day. Cognac and Cuban cigars (1958, pre-embargo) in the lounge are the standard after-dinner ritual among the Pappas Bros. regulars.
