For the past three years, the Gene Deer Blues Band has been voted "Best local Blues Band" by the readers of Nuvo weekly. Gene's a regular at the Slippery Noodle but this time he's mellowing out a bit and pulling the plug for an acoustic show. As his schedule allows, Gene performs a handful of acoustic shows each year. The change of pace affords audiences the opportunity to see a guitar virtuoso at work; a must-see for budding guitarists and blues fans. The guitarist/singer/songwriter, and Slippery Noodle recording artist, has also teamed with 1999 Indianapolis 500 winner, Kenny Brack to form the musical group, Kenny Brack and the Subwoofers. The newly formed band spent the summer touring with the IRL circuit. -- Mark Erickson
