Fabled Table
This is a middle eastern/greek fusion restaurant. I have several favorites, but especially like the salads (greek)and tuna/pasta - served at both lunch and dinner. They also have a very interesting couscous dish that has a variety of delicious fruits and vegetables in it on their dinner menu...I forget the exact name of it and a delectable (sweet and spicy) dish with shrimp and linguini. Yummm. We also enjoy ordering the middle eastern appetizer sampler and sharing hummous and tabouleh. The pita bread is very fresh, too. It's tough to pick a favorite. The desserts are about of this world, though. I like the lemon pound cake with raspberry sauce and the baklavah. Very casual. Pretty much anything goes in this eclectic, alternative atmosphere and neighborhood in the trendy Massachusetts Avenue strip near downtown. No big screen TVs here, just cool art work all over the walls and laid back music playing over the stereo system. It can be somewhat romantic, but to me it is more of a relaxing comfortable place with class. While waiting in line for a table your grandchildren graduated from college Moderately priced for the value. It is not an inexpensive restaurant, but not overpriced for the value, either. Dinner entrees are about $10 or less, but keep in mind it's a la carte, so that ups the cost. And you simply must try one of their desserts - if you can move after the scrumptuous fare. I eat out for lunch every day (when I have a chance I eat at Aesops..but it's not as close to my current workplace as it used to be). During the evenings I dine out approximately once or twice during the week (including carry out) and once or twice during the weekend - once for breakfast or lunch and once for dinner. I would spend $20+ for the right dinner for a special occasion. $10+ for a nice dinner...it really depends on the circumstances. I'm willing to pay more if I can get exactly what I want. Anything ethnic, spicy and hard-to-identify
