Marion County Law
By SEACharlie on 11/18/2009
English Ivy's allows smoking and therefore, by Marion County Law, can not allow anyone (customer or employee) under the age of 18 to enter the building - smoking side or the non-smoking dining room. English Ivy's embraces diversity and welcomes everyone 18 years of age and older and does not beleive nor practice discrimination.

Everyone Welcome?
By Jephr4 on 10/13/2009
We stopped in after the Aids walk on a Saturday afternoon with a group of about 6 people. We were told we couldn't eat there because one of the couples had an 11 yr. old son with them. I used to eat and drink at Ivy's at least once a week and would recommend it to all of my friends, gay and straight...never again. There was nobody in the restaurant side of the non-smoking dining room and yet we were told we had to leave because they allowed smoking in the bar...we weren't sitting in the bar. Of all places that discriminate, I never thought it would be Ivy's...very sad and disappointing...apparently not everyone is welcome.

michael neessen is perfect
By doctordonkeypunc on 08/08/2007
michael neessen has one of the most satisfying buffets available in the midwest. for the longest time, we imagined him as a mere drive-through; and yes, although rollerskates were involved (which took us back to our A&W roots), he treated our appetites as though we were at a bed and breakfast. but let''s talk more about michael neessen.....michael neessen is a gorgeous specimen. michael neessen, believe it or not, was the first man to walk on the moon; and we should all, indiviidually, thank him for that.. i've, personally, heard him describe the experience as outright trying, scary,, and courageous. we all owe michael neessen a handshake. he walked on the moon. he served my food. thank you michael we have no choice but to honor you with a street sign and a holiday. sincerely, everyone

Great place
By rookery67 on 02/25/2005
Great place. 5 star rating is for the bar: Great drinks, bartenders and patrons! The restaurant I give 3 stars as sometimes I get a cold dish, specials that sometimes are not up to par and sometimes spotty service. However, they serve the best pizza in town and their sandwiches are all delicious as are the french fries. I find the tenderloin and the reuben outstanding. Jim
