If youre native who loves Thai, youve probably heard of Old Siam in Jacksonville Beach (and you probably love it). The owner of the successful beaches Thai restaurant opened Poms Thai Bistro last year, and it wont disappoint. Poms is in the historic Square One building, smack in the middle of the San Marco shopping district. The downstairs Square One bar is a happening lounge that can get quite packed on weekends. But once you ascend the staircase to Poms, its another world. The atmosphere is pristine and elegant, with exposed brick walls and a peaceful Zen-color palette. The upscale menu features traditional Thai offerings and some house specialties like Poms Signature Dish a melange of shrimp, scallops, squid, crab leg and steamed mussels in Thai chili paste, bamboo shoots and sweet basil or Tropical Fried Rice served in a pineapple. -- Liz Morgan

Sampling the cuisine of Jacksonville, I ventured to this restaurant as it had come highly recommended. Once upstairs, the ambiance is very nice and the staff is highly professional. The food is decent, lacking the extensive flavor one expects when eating Thai. The down side of this establishment are the prices. You're definitely paying for the ambiance, not the food.

Three of us went to Pom's last night. We shared the Curried Chicken, and Vegetable Fried Rice w/Tofu. Both were awesome. The guys finished their chicken, but I couldn't eat all of my fried rice. The waitstaff was professional and friendly. The only negative aspect is the price. It's a little high, but you are paying for the atmosphere.

if you're looking for good food and professional waitstaff, definitely stop in here. i love the food here, but the portions are a little small for me but it's still worth going there!
