I thought our meal and service was excellent. One of us had the seafood, while the other a steak. We were not dissapointed. The view lent itself to why a lot of us go out to eat, as well as wanting quality food. Next best thing to the king of restaurants, but no longer, "Le Chateau."

Ruined My Evening
By ponettefleur on 01/03/2002
The two stars are being generous. I give Chart House two stars because no matter how bad the food and the snooty greeters...it's atmosphere and wait staff are each worth a star into themselves. After reading a bad review about the Chart House, I decided the critic must be out of his mind. It was my birthday and I was determined to enjoy an evening at one of my favorite places to go before I moved away from Jacksonville. Finding out that it had been redecorated and looked a lot like Los Angeles' restaurants, where I was moving back to Jacksonville from, gave it that extra little flavor I was looking for in an evening meal celebrating my age. Upon arrival to the restaurant, my fiance and I were quickly dismissed as we tried to talk to the hostess. I didn't think much of it. She was busy etc... Then, it became apparent she had many friends stopping by and she was just too taken with them all to communicate with patrons with available cash to spend. So after her college reunion was over I made of point of getting on the list and securing some space in the bar area while waiting for the rest of my party. Chart house has a very comfortable bar area. It's dark and warm. Good fabrics and sleek design. The drinks were good and since my company was having fun I forgot about the rude start. Then... after eyeing six tables open... I began to wonder if I should say something to the hostess. Long story short... we eventually got a seating by the young social-lite in her rude sort of faux condescending way. I say faux because she was trying to be a tv debutante without any real insight to the journey. We sat. Ordered. (It took forever) The salad bar was not well kept. My meal had a hair in it. My fiance's meal was cold. The waiter was kind and full of apologies but the price myself and my party paid was too high. Not only did this venture cost an unworthy pretty penney... the evening was ruined. My advice to all.... If you're going to the Chart House for a drink or appetizer... it might be well worth your while... but I wouldn't go there for an evening of meal enjoyment.
