Once again proving that a hundred-dollar place setting and valet parking dont make a meal taste any better, Trents Seafood, just off Roosevelt Boulevard near Naval Air Station Jacksonville, serves up some of the best seafood in town, mismatched silverware and unpaved parking lot, notwithstanding. Looking like the tired old lake house your parents used to take you to every summer, Trents is a true kick-back, sip a Bud on the front porch while waiting for your table kinda place.Inside, the dcor is Early American Seafood Joint with the requisite fishnets and plastic crabs tacked to the walls, nautical-themed placemats and, most important, the specials board, which might include anything from deviled crab to surf and turf to gator tail.Most regular menu items are available grilled, blackened, baked or fried (the shrimp is a customer favorite, as are the fried pickles) and are served with Trents homemade coleslaw and hushpuppies. None of which, for the record, could be any more delicious, no matter what its served on. -- Kerry Speckman
