Blue Koi is starting to swim downstream.
By QikFingers on 10/03/2009
Once an interesting amalgam of spicy Asian fare featuring enticing appetizers and occasionally surprisingly good dishes, Blue Koi has started, like most restaurants complacent with their own early success, to become complacent and edge down towards the mundane. The staff is remarkably friendly, but the dishes, aside from some of the still favored appetizers, may disappoint those diners accustomed to authentic Asian cuisine. Blue Koi was once trendy, it's still attractive, and I'm sure your date won't mind muddling through the limited menu. However, it might not last too long on your speed dial.

Awesome!

Blue Koi is a lovely, lovely place, wonderful atmosphere, great bubble tea, and WONDERFUL food. The waiter I got was very nice, had really amazing tattoo sleeves, and made suggestions(GOOD ones! Panfried instead of boiled dumplings and skipping plum sauce for Awesome Sauce.) The Awesome Sauce is aptly named, I could drink the stuff. Do not miss Blue Koi! But miss the eggplant appetizer pocket things unless you LIKE things dripping with oil.

My wife and I have eaten at the restaurant several times, although the service can be hit or miss, we always leave happy. One night we brought in a large group of friends, at the end of the meal the owner asked if he could give my wife a hug. Now that's hospitality!

city's best

Blue Koi is a restaurant my friends and I return to time and time again. Almost everything on the menu is delicious, especially ants on a tree, crispy tofu, pan-fried dumplings, lettuce wraps, braised tofu with shiitake mushrooms...it's all so good! The staff is prompt and friendly. One of the best restaurants in town, definitely.
