Friends Sushi & Bento Place   

This place is a Vietnamese owned (same as Saigon 39 next door). The food is not good at all. Even the Vietnamese food.....I would recommend the Little Saigon on Rainbow Blvd.)

I frequently order take-out from Friends and have never been disappointed. The quality is very good and has always been fresh. Even as take-out, the order has wonderful presentation.

My wife and I went to the restaurant on a Monday night and the place seemed busy, but there were a couple of tables. Someone greeted us right away and cleared off a table. That is the end of the good experience. We placed our full order within a few minutes(tofu app and 3 sushi rolls). Our server spent a great deal of time arguing with the sushi cook and looking over his shoulder at us. The cooks didn't even look like they were attempting to hustle. After 40 minutes of not seeing our server, my wife inquired how much longer it would be and he replied 20 minutes. So we decided to leave. On the way out some unidentified woman perhaps the "manager" or owner attempted to give us a "comp" card for a Tuesday night and made an attempt to appologize. I told her that wouldn't work for me and she made the excuse that they were very busy. I told her that I worked in the industry(my wife and I both work in a restaurant) so I understand, but no one had kept us informed of the situation. Long story short, we are very patient and undestanding, all that would have made us feel better was some attempt to let us know what is going on. There was no sense of control in the restaurant. Maybe the cooks are disgruntled. Not my problem. As someone in the business, it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth because I know how a restaurant should be ran. My wife and I went across the street to Blue Koi and within 30 minutes, we had finished our meal, which was great as always.
