My husband and I recently stayed at the Fairmont, purchasing the Valentine's Day package. We entered the posh lobby expecting an exquisite room with all the ammenities. What we received, however, was a different story. As part of our package, we were supposed to arrive in our room with roses, chocolate, and champaign waiting. As we entered the poorly decorated room, we realized this part of our romantic get away weekend was missing. Figuring they may be busy, considering it's Valentine's weekend, we waited for 2 hours before finally calling the front desk. The items were promptly brought to our room. Although irritated, we left for our evening destinations. As we returned, we began to notice some things about the room. The patio rebar was pushing out of the cement, obviously a potentially dangerous situation. Also, the wooden trim covering the top of the windows was separating from the ceiling. Furthermore, only one robe was provided, creating a potential billing mistake. The sheets would not tuck in under the mattress, leading to most of my sleep being conducted on the bare mattress. WORST of all, we awoke bright and early to a $415 bill slipped under our door for the $289 room. They billed us for bringing the roses, chocolates, and champaign that was supposed to be there when we entered the room. Although the issue was taken care of, our stay was certainly irritating from beginning to end. Oh, how could I forget the $8 parking fee after already paying $330 for the room including taxes! I have had much better accomidation experiences at the Holiday Inn Express for hundreds less! NOT WORTH THE MONEY!
