Ponak's Mexican Kitchen   

Consistency is a hallmark of a good restaurant, and Ponak's Mexican is nothing if not consistent. They serve up authentic Mexican food, but with a twist -- the cheese is cheddar in most dishes. The menu is huge, with both the usual and the unusual selections. Chips and salsa are complimentary, but if you want some heat, ask for the green sauce. The atmosphere is family- oriented, with a large dining room that's decorated more like someone's kitchen than a trendy Mexican restaurant. The bar has plenty of tables, and they make one of the meanest margaritas you'll ever drink. Ponak's Mexican offers lunch specials Tuesday through Thursday, and Happy Hour Monday through Friday from 3PM to 6PM. -- Kate Cagley
