Capital Grille   

The Capital Grille claims to bring classic steak-house fare to a new level of excellence, and that is certainly evident at the chain's Plaza location. The chefs age short loins of beef for 14 days. Then the beef's cut into steaks, seasoned and grilled to the customers' liking. Steaks and sides come a la carte here, but the lyonnaise potatoes are worth the effort it takes to order them. The Capital Grille offers a variety of seafood options for diners who aren't fond of steak. The appetizer menu features cold seafood, including blue point oysters and jumbo shrimp cocktails. Entrees include tuna steak, swordfish and Norwegian salmon. If possible, save room for Capital Grille's excellent homemade desserts, which include creme brulee and deep-dish key lime pie with toasted pistachios. The restaurant's signature dessert is Strawberries Capital Grille. The fruit is served with a sauce of port wine and Grand Marnier. In addition to excellent food, enjoy the Capital Grille's luxurious ambience. The restaurant feels like a gentlemen's club, with its marble-tiled entrance, glass-enclosed dining room and private, wooden wine lockers. -- Anna Foote
