Rate and Write a Review When you think of fondue (and when do you think of fondue, anyway?), you usually imagine bread dipped in cheese sauce. The Melting Pot is out to change all that. With delicious things like tender chicken breast and beef pieces to dip, and sauces made with cheddar and swiss cheese, you'll get your fill. Save room, though, because the best thing about The Melting Pot is the desserts. Dip fresh fruits into chocolate or really go all out and enjoy a Flaming Turtle, made with milk chocolate, caramel and chopped pecans and flambeed tableside. The atmosphere is laid back, and if you're shy about eating this possibly messy food with an audience, they offer private tables. -- Kate Cagley

ugh!
Three couples, including my late wife and I went to Lobster Pot for a Valentines dinner. It was aweful! The waiter had a tongue ring and was constantly sticking his tongue out and massaging his lis lips with it. ( on the rare occasions he did decide to show up) We were all disgusted and apalled. The faked jazz music was lame. The musician knew no complete songs but only 'noodled' on the guitar in a poor attempt at finishing anything. I am professional musician of 35 years so I know a little about music and entertainment. The meal took over 2 hours and was simply the worse dining experience we have ever had... bar none. When I politely offered my opinions to the manager...he was gracious enough to offer comp meals...to which we repeatedly attempted to refuse. He insisted so adamently, ( it was almost to the point we thought he may jam the tickets in my pocket!) we took the tickets and immediately disposed of them to some street bums. Perhaps they will enjoy a 'dining experience'. As a business owner I understand this may have been the management and current employees and they both may no longer work there. But for us, it was dreadful...somethimes the truth hurts, but must be known...again, this is only my and our opinions. Kudos to those of you who enjoyed it. 6 thumbs down from Gower.
Wonderful Family Reunion
Can't say enough about the family reunion we had at MeltingPot - the food, atmosphere and service were all perfect. That was now my third dining experience at the KC Melting Pot and each time has been better than the last.
When in KC, support KC!
One of KC's best? You should be ashamed. It's a freekin' chain! The Melting Pot can be found in ANY city. But you can only have McClain's chocolate drop cookies in KC. Come on KC, support your local. Go to McClains - It's Waldo neighborhood institution...now in Leawood, at 143rd and State Line
good bar, food okay
My husband and I loved going to the Melting Pot to have drinks at the bar and listen to the awesome music they play -- geared towards Frank Sinatra-type tunes. You feel like you're walking into a cave, it makes for an awesome atmosphere. The food however, is overpriced for what you're really getting, but it is worth the experience. However, on our last trip, we had the cheese fondue (with bread, apples, veggies) and the apples were soggy, the carrots were old, and the bread, not so much. How hard can it be, really, to provide good dippers for your fondue? When you think about it, there's no cooking involved in the kitchen, just a lot of prep work for the dippers. Try it once and see for yourselves, it's worth the experience.
