Rate and Write a Review Tienda Casa Paloma Mexican Market turns out the same authentic Mexican fare at the same reasonable prices that made its old downtown location popular, in a setting spacious enough to serve as a dining room and market. The menu has changed little, still offering house specialties like the torta pastor: chopped barbecued pork on a warm homemade roll with black beans, cheese, lettuce, tomato and avocado. Another specialty, the squash blossom quesadilla with epazote, is as an exotically authentic alternative to chicken and cheese. Beautifully arrayed throughout the market are fresh Mexican fruits and vegetables, a comprehensive selection of dried Mexican herbs and spices, and racks of homemade breads and pastries.

When we first stumbled upon this haven it was for it's food. Later on it was for the support that Lisa and her "family" supply to those of us us who have become her family. We have have our table. We have our regular food that we eat and drink. We have our friends who join us to celebrate our lifes in Lisa's and Bernardo's home. A safe place to be. He, my husband, has to have the veggie burrito, I have to have to carnitas.
God bless and protect all who walk through thier doors today.
The Best Mexican in KC!!
I love the ambiance of this little market/restaurant. The owners are very cordial and will greet you with a smile. You may even learn to speak the language if you ask how to say certain phrases since they just love to serve. The best compliment that I can give is that you can tell that God's love surrounds this establishment. Oh and the food is the best around with a fresh condiment bar with freshly made sauces (from mild to extra hot), fresh cilantro, lettuce, jalepeno peppers, etc... Fix it up how you like it! What great portion sizes for the price. Very affordable (especially the lunch specials) so take the whole family or invite your friends. You can even learn how the two owners (husband and wife) met by reading the articles posted on the wall regarding this quaint locale. I normally will not give an excellent rating since it is very hard to be 'Excellent" in my view (since there is always room to improve), but this is the best thing I've found in all of my travels in the lower 48 states. Lucky for me, I live here in Kansas City and can enjoy it with minimal time in car, train or plane. Thanks Tienda Casa Paloma for striving for excellence! I look forward to returning many times over many years and introducing new friends (like I did last week).
