Perhaps the smallest coffeehouse in Kansas City, YJ's packs in the downtown business crowd with their daily takeout specials. If you're eating in and you're lucky, you'll get one of the two or three sidewalk tables. If not, prepare to be jostled at one of the three tables inside. The food is worth the lack of space, though, and after you finish you can treat yourself to a homemade cookie or brownie. After the corporate types go home, the devoted electronica crowd comes to drink coffee from paper cups stamped with kitchy rubber stamps and listen to their favorite DJ spin. At night, YJ's definitely has the feel of an exclusive club, but you're sure to be treated, listening to Kansas City's best DJs working in the most casual atmosphere you'll find. -- Kate Cagley
