The Baker Peters Jazz Club offers guests a sophisticated atmosphere and a haunted past. Located in a historical mansion, Baker Peters was once the home of Dr. Harvey Baker, who owned the house during the Civil War. The doctor was treating wounded rebel soldiers in his home when Federal troops broke in and shot him dead. Visitors to the house can see the room where Baker was killed (now a dentist's office) and examine the original bullet holes still left in the doorway. The club is located upstairs to the right of the dining room and features live jazz every night of the week. Enjoy bands such as Slow Blind Hill while you sip a martini or enjoy a cigar. On Mondays listen to the sounds of Tommy Santelli on the patio while you feast on Angus beef or seafood boil. The club also features a haunting portrait of Abner Baker (the doctor's son), whose ghost reportedly still haunts the mansion.

One of my favs

It's pricey, but you can guess that from the name. It's worth it. The place has incredible food and drinks, and supposedly houses a ghost or two. It's a nice change from the typical knoxville bar, well worth the extra buck or two for a drink. Dress classy.

EXCELLENT food, but come early

Probably the best food in Knoxville, with PERFECT steaks. Very pricey. Ambience and service very good...UNTIL the live jazz starts. It is so loud that you can't hear yourself think! The jazz is good, and if you're visiting for the music and a few drinks, this would be a good place. If you're coming for dinner, be SURE to leave enough time to finish one of their superb meals before the band starts.

avoid this place! Too expensive, just to walk in the door of this place cost the price of dinner. Poor ambience, poor service, poor rich people have no personality!
