Theres nothing fancy about Kilroy's, and those who suggest they keep the lighting dim to hide the patches in the vinyl booths might be on to something. But all thoughts of decor and ambiance vanish the moment the hamburgers arrive. Yes, Kilroy's offers other basic American fare, but anyone who knows what put the place on the map doesn't even bother to look at the menu. It's all burgers, all the time, and one is enough to fill the heartiest of appetites for the rest of the day. The recipe for a great hamburger is hardly a closely guarded secret -- use fresh ground chuck, grind it up, and add a little seasoning (Kilroy's uses a dash of barbecue sauce). You'd think more places would have figured it out by now. But Kilroy's enormous half-pound burgers are grilled to order and come with a variety of toppings, from the traditional to the unique. The three-cheese mushroom burger is a popular choice. And if your sandwich is undercooked or overcooked, they'll make you another one, no questions asked. How many burger joints offer that kind of guarantee?

Kilroys is a Vegas INSTITUTION!
By JesusNmyPanties on 05/15/2008
I no longer live in Las Vegas, but I spent 25 years there and have been pretty much everywhere for burgers. Kilroys is, hands-down, THE BEST. Ok so the place isnt exactly chic and the decor leaves something to be desired, but OMG it is SOOOOO good! And OH, TRY the Tanglers! They are shoe-sting-type onion rings... incredible greasy goodness...

My wife and I went there for a burger last Saturday. We had always heard about how good Kilroy's was, so we decided to give it a try. The place was a joke. We walked in and waited for a few minutes at the sign telling us to wait to be seated, along with a couple in front of us. Somebody finally noticed us standing at the door, but instead of asking coming to seat us, they just pointed to a table. We sat forever with our menues. We then saw the people that came in the same time we did getting their food. We hadn't even had our order taken yet. When we finally did get our burgers, they hadn't put pickles on like I had requested. They used plastic baskets for the food instead of plates, and gave us plasticware instead of real utensils. For our appetizer, they gave us tiny styrofoam plates instead of real plates, and the ranch dressing was so watered down, we couldn't get it from the cup to our mouths without dripping it all over. The burger was just ok, no big deal. Maybe it was a fluke, but we will not be going back there again.

kilroy's is alive and well~

I just ate there last weekend! They have gotten around the smoking ban by sectioning off the eating area from the bar. Anyone who has eaten there knows it was partially sectioned off to begin with. The food is AWESOME! Miss the Kilroy scenery that they had, but hey, I go for the food, which is still great as ever.
