Despite its location half a block east of the Strip, visitors often overlook Carriage House. That's a shame, because this 154-suite hotel offers some of the best accommodations in the city. The rooms are among the best buys in town, and feature plush carpeting, overstuffed sofas, kitchenettes, and VCRs. The lobby is furnished with sofas and tables amidst a relaxing gray and blue decor. The ninth-floor restaurant, Kiefer's, has unobstructed views of the city and the neighboring MGM Hotel and Theme Park. Enjoy the tennis court, pool, Jacuzzi, and sun deck, all of which are surrounded by pine trees. Free airport shuttle service is available, and coin- operated laundries can be found on each floor. -- Peggy Strickler
