Famous Famiglia Pizzeria is the result of four Italian youths pounding the pavement of New York City. In the winter of 1969, Rose Kolaj made the journey across the Atlantic with her four sons, Tony, Paul, John and Giorgio in pursuit of a better life and a business the family could call its own. After honing their skills with some of the city's oldest pizza makers, the Kolaj brothers opened their first restaurant in the upper West side of Manhattan in 1986. Today, the franchise has expanded to 10 states, and has planned restaurants in almost 20 more. And the Kolaj brothers' commitment to quality has won them award after award, as they've scoured the country for the freshest ingredients. Menu choices include calzones, hero sandwiches, pasta dishes and the famous Famiglia special, which includes seven toppings. If it's good enough for the New York Yankees who've adopted Famiglia's as its official pizza.
