With its refreshing no-frills feel and inexpensive drinkage (pound a frothy glass of domestic schwag like Michelob or Bud for a buck), the Huntridge Tavern is the downtown realm's premier neighborhood bar. With a cast of characters straight out of a Bukowski novel, the old bar draws a crowd of loveable regulars with a high grizzle factor: blue collar grunts, aging athletes, general down-and-outers, and the occasional conspiracy theorist. If you're a bitter, solitary drinker, late weeknights -- funereally peaceful, save for the parade of cleavage and car chases on late-night TV -- are a good time to go. On weekends, the bar bubbles with strange energy as punks, hipsters and the regular riff-raff drink amicably side-by-side. It's like a rainbow coalition doused with ale. -- Andrew Kiraly

Great Neighborhood Tavern
By Skipparoo7 on 05/16/2008
The Huntridge Tavern is among the oldest neighborhood bars in Las Vegas. Patrons are an interesting mixture of regulars--retirees, white and blue collar workers with a few stragglers off the street. It reminds me of "Cheers." Patron conduct is monitered closely with few incidents. The adjoining Huntridge Drug Store & Grill has an original fifties lunch counter. The food is good and reasonably priced.

Don't miss the Westside Version!
By tggg85 on 02/24/2005
The "mirror" for the Huntridge Tavern is Decatur Liquors adjacent to Arizona Charlie's West. Same "atmosphere," also attached to a diner and drugstore, same cast of characters (mostly regular locals), same low prices and owners. Just remember to leave your weapons at home!

A real dive bar
By maaslv on 07/15/2004
This is the real thing. It's not really dangerous, but it is scummy. On any given night, you can witness a fist-fight or watch a hooker try to get paid. Weekends are not as good because "normal" people show up. The Strip is for chumps. This bar is connected to a drugstore which has a lunch counter specializing in Chinese fare. Go, pilgrim!
